Creating career opportunities for military spouses
By 2012, the unemployment rate among military spouses had risen to 26%. Blue Water was selected to design and build a White House-mandated employment portal to better facilitate the recruitment of military spouses.

The Solution:

We created a ‘first-of-its-kind’ website designed to fit within the portable lives of military spouses. The site includes a résumé-builder and job-search utility. Users can also specify their job preferences, creating custom email alerts.

Partnerships to create military spouse careers were created with more than 268 industry leaders like 3M, American Red Cross, AT&T, Bank of America, Booz Allen Hamilton, IBM, Lockheed Martin, Microsoft and more.

The Outcome:

A Pentagon Senior Program Analyst said, “The White House had given us a goal of 50,000 military spouse hires by 2015, and I’m happy to say today that in 2015, we’re at more than 65,000.”

There are currently more than 198,000 active jobs, with more than 3.7 million careers published on the site since its initial launch.

Partnerships have increased 446% since 2012, plus registered spouses went from 6,650 in 2012 to 60,321 in 2015, a 907% increase.
